This is my second post... I look forward to your responses! I found this wheat as well that I'd like to ask about. It could be banged up but there are 2 marks on the reverse, one under the E in cent, and one on the right rim at 4 o'clock. Are these errors or just an old banged up coin? Thank you!

I am new too, so I might be wrong but I think its just damage. Under the E it looks like its gouged and the excess material is stacked up. A die chip would have the pile of material without the gouge.

the one at cent is from a big hit that pushed metal around, the one at the rim could be a small Cud but only if the coin's edge is undamaged there

Yup, you guys are right... just checked the edge and there is indeed damage! Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it, it's very hard when you are starting. I am reading a lot and watching tons of video's but this will take time to really learn. Thanks again!

If you find it hard to tell if there is a gouge or a raised pile of material, try shining a light horizontally across the face of the coin. You can watch reflections and shadows to help see the texture. Also a coin microscope will help you see more if you want to make that investment.

But now that it's been pointed out to me hopefully I can do better next time at identifying. Using the light/mag app on my iphone is tricky for sure. Maybe one day I can get some better tools for searching. Very helpful tip!

yep, this coin just took a few too many circulation hits. That happens when a coin is doing it's job supporting the economy.
