In addition to the Type Set and Complete Set boards, Wayte Raymond also produced mini-sets of boards for the multi-year coin programs of the series. Presented here are the two boards for the 1934-38 Texas Independence Centennial half dollars (13 coins in total, 8 coins in Board 1 and 5 coins in Board 2 plus 1 unlabeled opening in Board 2). The Stock Numbers for the two boards in the set are: 397A and 397B.

US Commemorative Half Dollars: Texas Centennial Set, Board 1 / 397A

The Texas Independence Centennial series of half dollars was issued from 1934 (two year prior to the actual centennial year) to 1938 (two years after the centennial year. The first board of the Set (397A) starts with an opening for the 1934-(P) coin and continues with spaces for the 1935 (P-D-S) and 1936 (P-D-S) coins. The final spot on the board is for the 1937-(P) half dollar.

The second board of the Set (397B) includes six openings but only five are marked and needed to complete the Texas set. The first two openings on the board complete the 1937 issues with spaces for the coins from Denver and San Francisco. Also included are spaces for the program's 1938 (P-D-S) coins. The last opening on the board is unmarked and available for "collector's choice."

On the back of each board, at its top, is printed "No. 397A Wayte Raymond Inc.--- N.Y. Made in U. S. A. Pat. No. 1,719,962." (Note: The stock number listed here is used as an example - the number was unique to each board in the mini-set.)

For more on the coins included on this these boards, along with other of my posts on commemorative coins and medals, have a look at: Commems Collection.
