It's been about 2 years of constant dollar bill searching since the last radar bill I've found.

It often takes me several months to a year to find one & I make several recycles (withdrawals) of about 500-1000 notes per month at times. Plus I'm looking for 7 digit (Canadian radars) not 8 (which are even tougher odds). I must admit I'm inconsistent (partly b/c it sometimes seem so fruitless/daunting at times). I think if collectors knew how tough these numbers are to find, they'd be appreciated more.

Nice set of numbers on that one too.

My guess is that the time spent on searching for circulated notes like this will not prove financially rewarding. but perhaps that's not your goal.

It is rarer to find a radar bill (1 in 10,010) than a binary bill (1 in 8,749). I have found 3 binary bills (one I found in change which isn't counted in my hunting stats).

Coinfrog, I have found bill searching quite financially rewarding. It makes a good hobby job.

There are less rare kinds of fancy serial numbers that people will buy.

-Yes "Coinfrog" you're absolutely correct. But I do it more out of curiosity & consider it part of the hobby. If my goal were strictly to score radars (or any special #), a change-over, or anything collectible, than it could become frustrating fast. I enter some (or all) of the notes serial # (+ FPN & BPN's) into the CPMF's (Canadian Paper Money Forum's) SNDB (Serial Number Database) which helps us collectors determine the scarcity of today's signature change-overs & short prefixes. Knowing that my recycling cash isn't all about scoring helps as it can become pretty tedious waiting in a queue to change (recycle) 100 notes. I take frequent breaks from it as it became even more challenging recently.

As a minor plus, it has also given me a healthy perspective on how tough finding a 2 digit radar (vs a 3 digit), a low # (I've caught a few) or even an error note (which I have yet to find).

So, 2 years of searching for a sale of $18.50, is that right?
