OK, so then it is not die attrition because the rim is undamaged. Now I understand that. Now what causes the incusive groove more than 3/4 of the way around the circumference inside of the rim with some of the lettering stamped right into parts of the groove? That confuses me. Thank you for your opinions and the schooling that they are giving me. Please define what you are referring to as a die event.

Down on the rim below the word 'QUQRTER' looks damaged, could it by chance that someone tried to peal the cladding off the top?
I'm just guessing here now...
