I've had this 10 Yuan 1940 in my collection for some time now and I've never had this handwritten note translated, so I have no idea what it says. Can anyone here read Chinese and tell me what it says?

"(The banknote) on the left can be used as 1000 yuan"

It's a bit faded and written in the difficult Cursive Script, but with the help of my dad, I think this is the translation. So the note was probably revalued at a later time due to the inflation in the 1940s?

Thank you Wandering Circle. :) That's really much more interesting than I expected.

Would you be able to type the Chinese characters here so that I can have it in both forms in my records?

This is the sentence in Regular script Han characters (From left to right; the handwriting on the banknote read from top to bottom)

This is the online converted cursive script. Not the exact variants but there are many different forms.
