Quote: Very nice ttkoo which ones are you missing in the NZ florins. I'm missing most of them. I only have 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951 and 1965. I popped into my LCD on the weekend and scored the whole NZ penny set in fairly tidy condition. They were cheap as IMO. No-one seems interested in them. I'll be heading back there on Saturday for another poke around.

You did a good job. Budgets are important. I have done the same filling more than a few holes. Quote: Concentrating on the florins now. Cheers Good luck!

George the 6th (VI) 'King Emperor'? that is an odd title. But these are great looking coins.

Quote: George the 6th (VI) 'King Emperor'? that is an odd title. At the time, Great Britain ruled India before independence, and KGVI was Emperor of India and King of England, Canada, Australia....etc ...etc. I also thought it odd that a New Zealand coin would have Emperor. There is an Australian 'mule' 1916 halfpenny (as rare as rocking horse # 2's) which has the obverse from an Indian 1/4 Anna. This legend reads "GEORGE V KING EMPEROR" and his robe jewels were even resplendent with an elephant.

@bryan10au Very nice sets for your granddaughter. Just a thought, You could add some 1923 pre decimals, a hundred years old when she was born.

@jbuck thank you
@ttkoo thank you. That's not a bad idea, although it's a pity they didn't mint a shilling for that year as it would be nice to have the full set of coins.
Cheers Bryan
