So I guess by definition, nearly all of my coins are by aquisition, as I bought them from my parents estate. So here are a couple of rarer Australian florins, that I mentioned back on page 3 of this topic, and I think someone may have missed it. They are quite worn, but would still nicely fill in the gaps of a collection. 1914H and 1915H

Yes a good pair and very scarce.
They are entirely relevant to this thread. Where or who you got if rom does not matter, unless you got it out of change in the past few weeks at most.

Quote:Yes,average sort of grade, selling on ebay for about half(or less) than what Dealers got pre-Ebay. The bonus is that the coins in the collection (1,925 coins) cost me an average $1.56 each, making it a very affordable hobby. The 1914H and 1915H florins are very average condition, and are in my spares box. The two in my main collection are a better condition. One more lot to show, again these were purchased from the parents estate for the princely sum of $1.56 each. (And no... I haven't got spares!) 1937 and 1938 Australian Crowns And hoping someone would hazard a guess at the grade? When I first looked at them I thought they were almost UNC, but now they have been captured on disc and seeing them close-up on both faces I would guess EF.

I think they are great. Weirdly my 1938 crown is as nice as yours, but my 1937 is pretty awful (High VF with stains).

A surprise acquisition of 3 x 1984 MOR's. Just going through a decimal album in my collection that I had flicked through before checking out a bunch of very nice 1972 5 cents, but hadn't been to the back of it, and there were 3 UNC / aUNC 1984 $1 coins. Again, these were acquired for the hefty sum of $1.56 each. There is a beautiful shine to them, in hand. I thought they were worth a share, and I would like to keep this topic front and centre. Cheers TT

Did you get them out of circulation or did a friendly Australian help you like they did me? Meanwhile at the coin shop I found some nice Australian and Fijian coins amongst the super Halfcrown and groat family (Its on the British coins acquisitions thread - yes I swing for the British coins too). Ttkoo may be interested in this, A 1915H Florin and this is a nice one - Fine to gFine and probably hystorically cleaned, but fortunately a tone returns. Worth it for $80 Keewee as well. What a Bonza coin cobber! That just leaves 1914H, 1915 and 1939 to complete the Florin line up. Again its quality I seek. I also found this decent 1910 Sixpence for only $25 to replace the hilarious burnt flat thing I had. This is a nice clean Fine example and I don't think it has been cleaned, probably a bit "finer" than the Florin. Either way it means my 1910 Australian line up is reasonable now - no duds unlike my 1911 and 1912 range. Also a 1940 Fijian Sixpence, a less common date at the right price.
