ttkoo I was talking to Coinan - but your coin is about the level I am offering him, your collection especially with Australian coins is probably way past mine. My Florinry still lacks the 1914H, 1915 and 1939 and plenty of mine could stand upgrading!
New Zealand silver in general remains free of wear on the Reverse until you get down to the VF levels and even at VG the wear is more at Fine level. Obverses however wear straight away as they had the higher relief, whilst reverses were protected by a heavy rim. This is in contrast with British coins of the pre 1940 period in which the monarch wears well, but the reverses don't.

Picked up this F+ 1947 NZ Half Crown today. $4 plus post in an auction. A fair price to help fill the set.

I could have given you a VF+ one for free. Generally 1947 - 1951 Halfcrowns in VF or lower condition should not cost more than $1 each. That is a little high sorry and the lips on the left carving are worn, meaning its Fine.
However EF or better examples of 1961 or earlier are at least $30 - $40. No halfcrowns were issued between 1954 and 1960.

Quote: I could have given you a VF+ one for free. That's a nice thought Princetane. And now I find I have been ripped off by 3 bucks! Oh well....live and learn.and to think I could have given you this 1914H florin for free. What could make it fair and square? Anyway, As I have stated previously, I don't aim to sell any of my coins, but some of these 1914H's will end up on my swap list once I get around to it. So maybe someone will want it then.

I'm sorry you did ask my opinion and my autism makes me straight up. I am a truthful person and make no apologies for it.
I don't sugarcoat nothing, if anything I was offering to help - I didn't take up your offer as I had nothing to offer in return. That beautiful Florin is at least a $30 coin to me, and its going to take a LOT of halfcrowns to pay for it. I think you should get full value for the 1914H.
My swap buddies all get swaps in return from me and I try to be even, although I owe one of them big time at the moment!

Great, but that is my problem - I say things I don't think are offensive until I realise later that they are and they hurt people.
Noticed that Victoria Florin on your avatar, is it one of yours?

Quote: . Noticed that Victoria Florin on your avatar, is it one of yours? Yes it was a surprise to find it in the collection....a lot of surprises were in there actually. I posted it previously just after I joined CCF. You commented about it at the time. http://goccf.com/t/421763You have one as well, I think. I believe I saw you mention it recently while discussing florins. I've been going crazy with acquisitions these past couple of days. I stocked up on all the NZ half crowns except for the 1944. Got the 1965 NZ mint set so I could get the last half crown. Also been dabbling in some UK half crowns as well. A young head 1887 to go with the Jubilee and a 1906. Boy, the 1905 is out of reach for now, scary. Also have an offer in for a KGIII 1816 sixpence. And I probably paid a bit much for them, but I'm not very patient. I'll post them as they come in the mail.

My latest arrivals from ebay. A 1965 mint set of New Zealand 'ordinary uncirculated coins' I have rehoused them as the flimsy plastic sleeve they came in was opening up and letting air into the coin pockets. 1965 NZ Half crown 1965 NZ Florin 1965 NZ Shilling 1965 NZ Sixpence 1965 NZ Threepence 1965 NZ Penny 1965 NZ Half Penny

That is great and I appreciate how you rehomed them, as the plastic used on them was low quality for the pink sets (Assuming that is what you have - pink was the colour of the little paper square in the set) and yours is a good example, nice strike and very shiny. I recommend every collector gets one of these sets at least for their NZ collection as UNC grade examples of early years range from hard to impossible. The rest of your collection sounds amazing! Now this will blow your mind - the 1965 set in Specimen Polished grade (Blue label)

Wow, the difference is striking. They are silky smooth. Very nice indeed. Yes I got the pink set(should I keep the little square paper bit? Maybe one day it will be valuable like the Foy's bag for the 34/35 Florin!
