Just getting back into collection from taking a 30 year break and I wonder where you find your coins. In the 1970s I pulled most of my collection from begging family members for their stuff or from circulation. Seems hard to find anything cool in circulation any more and I'd expect the coin shows/stores know what they have - that's why I never frequented them. So, short of grabbing a metal detector and pulling them out of ground, where do you find your coins?
Welcome to the Forum, AlabamaDan, I'm afraid you are going to have to shop at the coin stores, or wait until you have 50 posts, and shop here,if you want to pick anything up. A lot of collectors on this forum have probably anything you would want.
ebay is another option. A lot of members purchased part of their collection through auctions. If doing so, be carefull, there are a lot of fake coins out there.
I buy most of my coins from 5 local dealers and some from e-bay. But as others have already mentioned, always be careful and when buying from e-bay. There are a lot of scammers out there.
Hmmm... interesting so you can get good deals from people who know? Right now my kids and I are roll hunting and it's fun. As we were going through some rolls yesterday my 7 year old looked up and said, "Daddy, exactly what are we looking for?" That's when I realized he needs a folder!
