Quote: Seems like the rules favor estimating low in the early rounds. Concur Spence - rules say 50 of the best guesses move on to round two - but any guess over the correct number is eliminated. I went way low - betting that my low guess for round 1 is one of the final 50. If I move on, will have to tighten up in later rounds.

I'm glad to see you getting the idea of this contest I like that you all are trying to determine the weight of the vase when trying to place your guess. One does have to ask themselves though - Is the glass vase made of plain glass, leaded glass or could it be a crystal vase?

Congratulations, Dearborn, on 10,000+ posts. You've been an active presence on here and a huge help to many for a couple of years.
I'm going to guess 1,175 quarters for a sum of $293.75.

Great contest, Dearborn, and congrats once again!
To quote the late, great C.W. McCall from his song Wolf Creek Pass - "I looked on outta the window and I started countin' phone poles goin' by at the rate of four to the seventh power. Well I put two and two together, added twelve and carried five, come up with twenty-two thousand telephone poles an hour..."
Using similar logic, I'll throw out my guess of $260.

Got the new additions and 2 hours from now, I'll post up the first list 1231... got your change - and you are locked in to that amount along with TNG. The rest have 2 hours to decide to keep or edit their guess.
Tic-Toc..

Congrats Dearborn on your posting milestone.... Any one that goes over is out of the next round (unless everyone goes over) as mentioned, so if you guess too high, your out the next round so logic dictates to guess lower within the range of others so you advance... However, I recently bought some coins off a Chinese seller on ebay with ZERO feedback in their account, So Yes... I like to live dangerously ;) $328!
