Post Your Coins/Medals/Tokens That Are Intentionally Dual-Dated

Canada's annual commemorative silver dollar in 1985 marked the centennial of the establishment of Canada's first National Park - Banff in Alberta - in 1885. The Park was created via the protection of roughly 26 square kilometers (~10 square miles). Today, Banff Park covers over 6,600 square kilometers (~2,565 square miles).

The design on the coin's commemorative reverse depicts a moose wading in the shallow waters of a lake. A group of trees lining the lake's opposite shore is seen in the background along with towering mountains; close inspection reveals reflections of the trees in the lake's waters - great detail! The central and tallest mountain in the depiction appears to be Sulphur Mountain (a part of the Rocky Mountain range).

The coin's dual dates - "1885-1985" are found at the top of the reverse design, as part of the rim inscription.

The 300th anniversary of the journey throiugh Western Canada taken by explorer Henry Kelsey (1690-92) was the subject of Canada's commemorative silver dollar in 1990.

The coin's commemorative reverse design presents Kelsey with several members of the Cree Nation looking out over a vast western praire and a herd of bison/buffalo. The coin's dual dates of "1690" and "1990" flank "KELSEY" at the lower rim.

Back in 2001, the Royal Canadian Mint (R C M) released a commemorative Sterling Silver (92.5% silver, 7.5% copper Dollar coin to mark the 50th anniversary of the National Ballet of Canada.

The coin's design presents an interesting blend (IMO) of a 2-D line drawing (the dancers in the background) and a fully sculpted 3-D presentation of a pair of dancers in the foreground. At the lower rim on the commemorative reverse are found the dual dates of "1951" and "2001" - they flank the coin's denomination inscription - "DOLLAR".

This East German 10-Mark coin has two dates - 1949 and 1974 - to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the German Democratic Republic. There was no corresponding coin in 1999 for the 50th anniversary, as the country had ceased to exist in 1990, although the DDR effectively disappeared overnight on November 9, 1989 with the collapse of the Berlin Wall,,,

In 2011, the centennial anniversary of the establishment of Parks Canada (originally the Dominion Parks Branch within the Department of the Interior) was commemorated by Canada with a Silver Dollar.

The commemorative reverse of the Silver Dollar depicts a close-up view of a Canadian youth peering into cupped hands. The hands are symbolically holding four of Canada's endangered species: a Whooping Crane, a Southern Maidenhair Fern, a Western Prairie-Fringed Orchid and a Kentucky Coffee Tree.

The coin includes the dual dates "1911-2011" at the rim below the central design of the reverse.

One of my favorite releases from the Royal Canadian Mint in 2015 was its commemorative Silver Dollar for the 100th anniversary of the World War I poem In Flanders Fields. IMO, its design combining traditional engraving with selective translucent enamel enhancements works very well!

The poem was written by Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae while he fought in Europe during World War I; the poem was written to honor his fallen friends and fellow soldiers. The poem, and the red poppy flower he highlighted in it, have become international symbols of remembrance for the fallen.

On the coin's commemorative reverse, in the foreground below the grave markers and in front of the enamel-enhanced red poppy flower in the background, are found the dual dates "1915-2015". Soldiers paying their respects to the fallen are seen to either side of the center grave marker.
