Belgium 25 cent, French lettering left. I have no idea why I had a photo of this but it's a coin from 1946 so in it goes.

We finally reach silver for British coins too and I have a nice selection of high grade British coins to work through. There have been MASSIVE upgrades since the 2020 version. This first photo is a repeat though, this AU Florin was really the first high grade UK florin I ever owned and I still own it. Add a nice Halfcrown to it! Less nice, but more rare a 1946 Threepence, the 2nd rarest after 1949. My one is average goodFine condition. One more post of global 1946 coins coming up. The number of non British, NZ, Australia and Fijian coins in my collection is drying up!

Those shillings are beautiful - NumisRob, lots of detail and great NZ and Australian coins too. Nice group TM. My last 3 1946 coins are less spectacular, but they are mine. Well I fib, this Swiss 2 Franc is a beauty - as you may know there was no war in Switzerland and it was the goal of the Von Trapp Family. This Brass Florin from West Africa is more exotic. The coin shows the king crowned, just to let them no who was the boss man. These coins were previously silver until 1920. It was used in Nigeria, Ghana (Gold Coast), Sierra Leone and Gambia. Austria 1 schilling, the war did a number on Austria and it was under Soviet Occupation, a dark time, the brass schillings were a few years off. It was aluminium for a few years, later they only used aluminium on the 2 and 10 Groschen pieces. I made a mistake with Germany too in 1949, it seems they did continue minting low value zinc coins of 1, 5 and 10 pfenning through the war years (1943 - 1948), except in mid 1945 they pulled the swastika, yet left "Reichspfennig" the gothic lettering "Deutsches Reich" and Nazistic eagle.
