I posted a pentagonal Yemeni coin for 1949, here's a round one for 1945...   Yemen, 1/10 riyal, probably 1364 AH = 1945 AD. Numista 39981 (page picture, for now), die match to NGC Y#5.5 1364/43. Why "probably" in this grade, you might be asking? Well, the date is a very strong overdate, as you can see, and it looks most like 1364/42, but the 2 is so strong that I can't rule out 1362/44. The latter exists in the references (but I've never seen a pic), the former doesn't (but see below). NGC calls an exact die-match example 1364/43, but the middle bump of the apparent 3 on their example coin looks like an accidental crack to me. On my coin the digit is clearly a 2. |

J1M - Doesn't matter anyway, most of us can't read Arab text. I do see the date AH1322 at the top of that coin though, which would be 1903/4 unless they are dating in solar (365 day) years after 622. Just a lovely and fascinating coin, we see too few examples of around here. Keep them coming - Spasibo! 1945 again and some Kiwi upgrades I nearly forgot about!   Territory of New Guinea - 1 shilling   UK - Farthing, Wren   NZ - Halfpenny - detail   NZ - Threepence, upgrade on the first post - AU/UNC   Shilling - gEF (Upgrade on VF coin) Average grade of NZ silver 1940 - 1946 is VG to Fine Average grade of NZ silver 1933 - 1939 is G to VG, so these are nice pieces.
