2011 was the second year of France's regional silver 10-euro coins. They were available at face value for a limited period - but only from main post offices in the region depicted on the coin! I was on vacation in Spain that summer, and deliberately chose a zigzag course back to the Channel Tunnel so that I could get as many of the coins as possible! Languedoc: Normandy: Limousin: Nord-Pas-de-Calais: Collecting mania hit France in the summer of 2011, and some of the coins soon started changing hands for four or five times face value!

I thought I had a regular circulation coin for 2011, but apparently it was actually dated 2013. I do have this, though... USA $1, Presidential series, 2011-S Rutherford B. Hayes (19th president) PCGS Proof-69 Deep Cameo This was a gift from a CCF member (don't recall which offhand). For a while it was my only slabbed coin (I think I have two or three more now, also gifts). EDIT: unfortunately, this is also my last pre-existing photo for a while (I think 2002 is next?), so if I want to post anything else here in the next week or so I'd need to go photographing! ...Too early to say if I'll actually do that, though.

Just spent ages getting new photos of things, my 2011 is sparse, but I have many 2010 coins ready to go. 90% of my non Australia/NZ pieces as you will see are change coins rather than commems. Trigg has shown the 20 sene, but in 2011 Samoa got a new set of coins and was next to follow New Zealand in the stainless steel, coin shrinking party. The set had a micro sized 10, 20 and 50 sene showing Canoe races, a flower (Orchid or teuila?) and the Nanumea or Polynesian pigeon. The new 1 Tala coin was shrunk from the old one (I will show one in 2005) and now showed a Kava bowl (Kava is enjoyed through out the Pacific) and a speakers whisk - Samoan matai (Heads of families, mostly male) will hold this whisk when speaking at a fono (Meeting - quorum). The new scalloped 2 Tala coin shows the coat of arms of Samoa, this originally appeared on the 1967 - 1973 coins from 10 sene to 1 Tala. The Obverses show the head of state then - Tui Tupua Tamasese Efi. He passed away a few years ago. I got these coins in 2012 when I went to Samoa and they are pretty worn now as there has been very few updates to these coins since. Like the Fijian ones, cheap stainless steel is not very durable in the steamy Pacific tropics.

2 more for 2011 This tiny 10 Lipa coin of Croatia It shows I think Tobacco leaf, these coins are curious as they have two reverse types - one has the item named in Croatian, the other Latin. Their coins go down to the 1 Lipa which is like 13.5mm in size. I am not sure if they have gone to the Euro yet. French Polynesia 100 Francs - 2011. This is another design that has been used since the 1970s. Some nations badly need to update designs - will the French Polynesians follow the rest of the Pacific into the el cheapo steel coin foxhole?

Surely we can't let 2011 go by without posting a coin commemorating the wedding of everyone's favourite royal couple.

2010 UK silver Britannia bullion coin - my favourite Britannia design: 2010 circulating UK £2 coin commemorating Florence Nightingale: 2010 circulating UK 50p coin commemorating centenary of Girl Guiding; 2010 Isle of Man One Pound: 2010 German 2-euros - City of Bremen commemorative: I don't usually post US or Australian coins, as so many other members post them, but I couldn't resist this one - as we all love to pay our taxes...
