Some euros from me - a 2007 French BU set: Ireland 5 cents: Slovenia 50 cents: Italy 1 euro: Slovenia 2 euros: 2007 was the year Slovenia adopted the Euro, the first country to join after the initial 12 major countries (plus Monaco, Vatican City and San Marino) in 2002.

The only photos I seem to have of a 2006 dated coin is this high grade Australian mob of roos dollar coin I found in circulation a couple of months ago:

Some 2006 coins from the UK, starting with a circulated 2 pence: Two 50 pence coins commemorating the Victoria Cross, one showing the actual medal and the other a soldier rescuing a wounded comrade under gunfire: £2 coin showing Paddington Station in London, built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel: A second £2 coin showing Brunel himself with his big top hat: This was the start of The Royal Mint getting really greedy and issuing two coins to commemorate an event when previously one would have been thought sufficient...

2006 was a huge year for New Zealand as the old cents coins from 1967 were retired in July and replaced with new smaller and much fiddlier stainless steel ones. First of all the 5 cent coin was scrapped and the remaining coins were reduced in size. This set below was issued to mark the change between old and new. The old coins were 50c, 20c, 10c and 5c and were all Cupronickel minted at The Royal Mint in Wales. The new ones were cheap and nasty stainless steel minted in Canada. The 50c was round and 20c a Spanish Flower milling - nickel plated steel. The 10c was copper plated steel and resembled a US cent despite being worth 6 times as much. 16 years later, most are still in good condition, however the 10 cent coins are brown and just look cheap and nasty! 2006 was JUMBO mintage of 140 million 10c, 116 million 20c and 70 million 50c for a country with 4.5 million people! and many still circulate now. The coins shrunk in size and weight over 50% in some cases. The old 50 cent was 13.82 grams and 31.85mm in size, the new one was just 6 grams and 26mm in size. The old coins were made illegal on October 1st 2006. The $1 and $2 were unaffected (Neither were minted in 2006) and that is why these coins back to 1990 are still legal tender now, but all the cents coins I show after this post for New Zealand will be obselete ones.

Australia celebrated 40 years of decimal currency in 2006, unlike New Zealand which went for el cheapo reduced denomination coins - Australia harked back to the past by issuing a pair of 1c and 2c coins in their proof and uncirculated sets (The coins did not circulate). These coins had not been issued since 1991 (Although one offs of them appear in some special sets and with later Bubblegum issues like 2019s' Mr Squiggle collection) I have the uncirculated set and it was the first since 1991 to have all 8 coins! The designs are unchanged except for the current portrait of the Queen on the Obverses. Speaking of traditional coin designs, this French Polynesian Franc is using a design that goes back at least to 1949. It is still being used today!
