First obselete coins of New Zealand! The 2005 dated 20c and 50c are both very scarce. I had a pair of each and sent one pair to Triggersmob last year. In 2001 - 2004 there had been huge mintages of all the cents coins to catch up with stagnated and minimal mintages in the 1990s. However 2005 saw no 5 cent coins or 10 cent coins released at all into circulation. Limited numbers of 20 and 50 cent did though. About 500k 50 cent coins were relased, 170k 20c and 28k 10c coins. the 10c were only issued in souvenir sets like my small change one in 2006. These coins attract a premium above face now. Uncirculated and Proof Set of all the coins were issued in 2005 and 2006 too. No 5 cent coins were released outside of the sets. 2005 also saw the issue of $1 and $2 coins topping off a fruitful early 2000s for both denominations after again a minting stagnation in the 1990s. Grades of these coins are high due to very limited criculation - the golden coins are found of course more worn as they are still legal tender.

Australia issued circulating commemoratives, celebrating the end of WW2. Missing is the 50 cents showing war graves and crosses. The $1 shows a happy man rejoicing the VJ day and the 20 cent shows a home coming of a soldier. Standard coins from the year of "Goldigger" by Kanye and Jamie Foxx Obverses
