Well after that last 1880 that turned out to be worse than I or anyone here thought, (here's that post) http://goccf.com/t/428035 ......... and then got my money back and saw this one that I picked up for $17 less than I paid for the first one the same day my money was refunded. ($58 first one, $41 this one). So this is a new 1880 O ............ what's your opinion about condition and grade on this one? Thanks in advance!

P.S. Haven't got around to it yet, but that little dark smudge on the eagles breast looks completely surface and will most likely come clean with a cue tip and a little acetone.

Pics too soft and dark to see surface details clearly.

I'd say AU-55. I'm not convinced it's been cleaned.

Looking at this again, not on my phone, I don't think the hairlines I saw were from a cleaning. I am at AU-55

Yeah I'm at AU55 and it looks cleaned to me.

Edit: seen your other post just now about why people say its cleaned. The cheek scratches don't look natural to me, that's my only reasoning. I'm 50 50 on it anyway, doesn't seem to be evidence in the fields but the face is higher so hmmmm, I've seen coins details for less thats all.

Kauai, let me ask you a question. What caused the white spots or cloudiness on the cheek, neck and the star next to the date? The reverse has a similar cloudiness. Were these caused by circulation, dip or cleaning or is the coin original?

There are no white spots, perhaps flare when I took the pictures outside yesterday. I'm looking at it right now with a 10X loupe and there's nothing there. I'll try and get some better pictures taken today and will add them to this post later.

i think the glare from lighting is altering what we see here. hopefully better photos will show the surfaces better

since the 80(O) are known for sharp strikes, the breasts and wings are pointing to circulation wear and not strike along with the broken luster on both sides. if the coin was cleaned I can only see a light dip and nothing that would details the coin
