Thanks jbuck. I was pretty excited, even it was very rough....dark and slightly covered in gunk. I'll try soaking it in acetone.

This isn't an update to my searching but is applicable. I put my finds on Numista for trade and just received this 1888O Morgan for two west point quarters and 6 NIFC halves. It makes the searching worthwhile!   |

That is a great trade; it goes to show that half dollar hunters could be saving their NIFC's to trade with.

In the 1990s I traded a chunk of CRH found silver half dollars (40% and 90%) to fill out my Franklin half dollar Dansco album.  Finding NIFCs in rolls were not a regular thing back then, other than the rare proof, 70D, 87P/D, or commemorative (none of which I ever found). However, we now have nearly twenty years of strictly NIFC minted half dollars just waiting to be found in circulation.  |
