Perhaps it was a simple mistake. You definitely should try to get in contact with them so they can add you name.
Anyway, it is fantastic description. The photos don't do much for the coin (because of the damage) but the description fires it back up. Makes me want to buy this coin!
Any guesses of the final hammer price?

Quote: the auction is live now. the lot can be seen here... Good luck! Quote: i think its a really nice description with one exception. they didnt mention me as the discoverer of the coin despite that being a specific request of mine when the item was consigned. I guess I should have made that a requirement of the contract rather than depending on a verbal agreement. That is a bummer. We just need to make sure whoever buys it is made aware of this topic!

Congratulations on getting the listing up for sale. Hope it surpasses the million dollar mark!

I saw it was at $140 for a few days so I bid $160. I was promptly relegated to the dung heap as an auto-bid set it to $180. Later I will be heard saying, "I bid on an R-8 Half Dime... didn't win, though..."

If unique is R8 what's R9 or R10?

@numismatic student: r9 = pi r10 = infinity Actually, it's a great question. Some scales use R9 as unique. I just happen to live in a world where R8 = 1 to 3 specimens. (I think I chose to live in that world - other worlds are equally awesome, and all theoretical, since I don't own any unique coins.) https://www.PCGS.com/books/silver-d...C%20or%203).

What a great story. Sometimes the best cherrypicks are the ones that end up being something different than what you initially thought they were.
The research and dedication you put into getting this new marriage acknowledged is a great service to the numismatic community.
Good luck on the auction. I will be hoping for a high result for you.

Congrats to Carrs and Evergreen! Had this auction open in a window on my phone since it was listed. Kept and eye on it, over my budget, but nice to see it went to someone who knows the story.
