2004 seems like sticky tape but it's flaking silver unless somebody sprayed over sticky tape but I don't think this is
the case.

The back has a few scratches / dings but the front is superb.

It can still be exchanged at any branch of the Bundesbank here in Germany. You will receive 25 Eurocent in return. Considering 5 Aussie Cent are 3 Eurocent you will make a nice profit

The 50 Pfennig of 1966 were the first to be re-minted since 1950. In other words, this denomination was not minted between 1951 and 1965.

It looks like a hardened adhesive. I would soak it in acetone to confirm; it should remove if it is actually residue.

Correct. It looks like glue, adhesive, or some other polymerized substance stuck to the coin. If so, acetone should remove it. If not, then more examination will be needed. Keep in mind I only have the photo for assessment. Seeing in-hand could result in a different hypothesis.

One thing I've noticed on this coin is it has a die crack going diagonally from claw too number 5 and too the rim.
