Here's a World War I themed coin, issued by Canada in 2015. It's a commemorative Silver Dollar for the 100th anniversary of the World War I poem In Flanders Fields; the coin was produced by the Royal Canadian Mint.

The poem was written by Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae in memory of fallen friends and fellow soldiers. It was written in 1915 while McCrae was serving in Europe as a physician-soldier during World War I.

The commemorative reverse design presents two soldiers flanking a battlefield grave site, paying their respects to the fallen; a poppy flower with translucent red and black enamel is seen in the background. The soldier to the right of the grave (viewer's perspective) is depicted with his head bowed while standing with his hands resting on the butt end of his downward facing rifle (the barrel/muzzle rest against the stones covering the grave).

Here's another commemorative 5 Franc piece from Switzerland - it's connected to the 1934 Federal Shooting Festival in Fribourg.

At its center, the obverse design presents the Coat of Arms of Fribourg, placed within a wreath and surmounted by a crown, with the inscription "BON DE 5 Fr REMBOURSABLE AVANT LE 31 AOUT 1934" encircling it at the rim. The inscription translates to "VOUCHER OF 5 Fr REIMBURSABLE BEFORE AUGUST 31, "1934" which points to the piece being more of a commemorative token vs. outright coin.

The reverse depicts a soldier in dress uniform holding his rifle upright in his right hand.
