1821 and the size of a nickel might be a little off, but it looks like a common H 22.552
Measure to see if it is closer to 26 or 22 mm
If it is the same coin showing both sides then the rim width makes my wonder if I'm comparing it to the right coin in the book

Decades ago, I bought about 200 Chinese cash coins at 20 Cents each.
I really had no idea what I was buying, but at that price, it made
no difference to me if they were fake or not. The diameter varied a bit.
Some were brassy looking, most were bronze

Forward 20 years.
I had an opportunity to research them all, and arrange them in date order, from Tang to Ch'ing.
They all turned out to be genuine.

The areas between the writing and the rim look genuine to me.

Isn't it sad that my first knee jerk response when reading the title of this post was,"Chinese...Fake." Sad.

Not always, you just have to know your stuff. I bought a Chinese coin for 20 bucks when it's worth 500 usd on ebay. You just need to have the expertise to find the authentic ones. This is a skill that takes a long time to master.

I'm not doubting that at all Alfred. Years of expertise I certainly don't have. Nice pick up on that Chinese $20 coin.
