hello-
i recently started to photograph and catalog my large cent variety sets. ive had spreadsheets for a while, but I wanted to have access to photos on my phone so that I could compare my coins to other pieces without having to have my coins on hand.
im using an iphone with the stock photos app. images are taken with the phone. 2.8x zoom. LED bar lights. phone stabilized on an old green PCGS slab box.
so...i took a bunch of pictures. I created an album for the sheldon cents like so-

i took pictures of obverse, reverse and a bit of identification. I sorted them by sheldon variety. it turned out better than I anticipated. the photo app puts 3 images per row. it looks clean and is very easy to navigate.

you can zoom out to jump around the collection a bit quicker.

or see the whole thing spread out

in the future I plan to increase the density of information on my identification image. I would like to include diagnostics for the varieties so that I can more easily attribute on the go. I also intend to add entries for the varieties I dont own.
so now I can see any coint in my sheldon set (well almost. I still need to photo some slabbed coins). its a really simple solution that turned out better than I had hoped it would.
have anyone done anything similar? how do you organize the images of your collection?
