With Wexler and Ken we has discussions about this back years. Also for denominations and collecting vocabulary. Is no way to change so many peoples which use those words and look the coins from what was history. So better we do not enter on this heat roadway,. I wrote in the way the majority accept.

Also scientific the MD cause collateral changes and could not be just local because could not fit the narrative.

For the coin you show: 1 If it is pre 1999 it is Hub Doubling, if it is after when CNC in involve will be what me I say DJ3 which mean Doubling Jump on Freeze 3.

PS: In the last time Wexler do net answer to messages. Hope him it is OK from bottom of my hart.

Re-read what I wrote because I add something. Those Drummers I do not have and need to be scrutin on hand. Folks put doubling but I think it is somewhere between Die Chip and or strike trough clad coin debris. Mike it is the best on this.

Rocky, there is no 1953 superbird, it's a 52 of which there are two types, the 901 aka superbird and the more rare 902 superbird with Reengraved Tailfeathers.

Chin is Machine Doubling. (Note the reflection on the images) Machine Doubling can be slight/med/strong/med bounce (affect sides of raised devices), High bounce (affecting the top of the devices) But if it is Machine Doubling it reduces the edge of the contour on the devices. This is never a doubled die. A doubled die will be an alteration of the die creation, make the devices on the dies wider/taller/distorted/notched. If anything, the lighting is not helping you. (leaving you in the dark) On a doubled die, on the single squeeze dies, the spread is usually in the central devices that will be affected and usually with distortion is shape of the devices. Looking for stuff too minor can prevent you from finding what is desired. A spread. The stronger the spread, the more desirable the coin will be. Minor stuff becomes just normal coins. Between die wear (In the direction to the closest rim) and Machine Doubling, distraction will get you no where. Look for the obvious. Those are what the buyers are looking for. You should be able to see it with a 10X loupe to get a buyer interested.

By the design this it is an proof 1961 and is clear Type B strike with an relative old Die (anvil). we look for this year more on business strike Type B (second more rare).

yes this one the die hole is in the tail feathers. this die did not strike many more coins. the coin would have kept sticking. to the die with a the extra metal being pulled from the coin. so this die was almost done.

Silvio can you tell me what causes this ghosting effects. I know this coin has been struck many times. one of them had to have a shift in a direction. this is still the 1961 P let me know what you think.
