Looks like a 7/8tf and since it's a recent purchase, not a raw find that csince65 normally submits....now..... I'm debating if it could be PL and if the VAM is noted on slab.... grade wise 63/64 ..put me down for $ 420.00

Wow - that appears to be a fantastic price for this lovely coin. I would be interested in learning the backstory of how it came to be.

Me...way off as usual. I like to go high and then I'm never disappointed. That said, double was too far off, even for me.
Great job all!

First congrats to all the points winners and to the winner for nailing the price! As some of you know from my past coins I have shared here I am a nut for and student of 1878 Morgans. This, as someone pointed out in their price guess, is one of the 7 over 8 tailfeather 1878's. (memory says it is correctly a 7/4 tf type) Namely VAM 41C. An Elite Clashed Die It also has a nickname...The Bearded Lady! Clash marks created from the reverse die onto the obverse is evident on Miss Liberties neck. (strong mark on her neck into the field left) Also evident are very tiny and faint clash marks on the underside of her throat below her jaw. This is where her nickname comes from--those hairlike clash marks--and thus her "beard" I purchased this in a NGC MS 62 holder unattributed Really got lucky on the purchase price. Knew it was a 41C from the sellers images and before it was in my hands. Really cool find! Here's a link to VAM world 2.0 and the VAM 41C http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.c...78-P_VAM-41C

Congrats Spruett001! Loved the info on the coin as well. I might not know what the h e double hockey sticks I am doing on grading as I have not studied, so I go with my mind. I might be better at therapy.

Congrats on nailing it and the win Spruette.
And thanks to CS65 for the backstory and the link to the variety. While the Morgans are too rich for my budget I love varieties and really appreciate the link to look at the clash marks close up.
Looking forward to seeing Flag4's coin.
