So this appears to be DDO & DDR. The finish is almost proof like- had to capture but in person truly thought this was a proof coin.

Worn die or maybe a Dryer Coin? Really odd looking but do not think you have a doubled die.

I agree, it is not a Doubled Die, it is plausible to be an early stage of a Dryer Coin.

Not a DDO not a DDR not a proof. Major circulation flattening or maybe someone polished/buffed it up.It is a spender.

Good call, John1, I knew I recognized that look but could not place it. I feel you nailed it.

No DDO or DDR here. The texture of the coin and the rims are far away from proof coin. Shiny coins do not mean are proof.

Obviously a shiny coin doesn't mean proof..

I just went through 1000 70's pennies and this looks different. Flattening I considered but it seems like theres too much definition for it.
What does the dryer do to them?

Google "polished, buffed" coins. After John1 said that, it clicked for me, just did not recognize it, to begin with. You will find coins that look just like yours.

it's very difficult to prove an error on a coin damaged as much as this one

Looks like it may have a deep casting seam over the Liberty or someone else was testing this coin to determine authenticity. Just guessing.

Agree with all above--does look worked over (polished), and does show early stage Dryer Coin issues. In addition to everything else, the rim looks to be 'enlarging' depth-wise--closing in a bit.

This coin is the ODV-025 which it is primary characteristic to be high relief. We say Dryer Coin but could have same effect from rolls machine, coins star, grocery machines, etc. In fact every thing which roll the coin. The rim it is round and all those machines use semi rounded rolls to pass the coins. I think the OP want something like a confirmation of an rare error and not more then this.
