Here's a medal featuring a bird on its reverse - a Bald Eagle. The medal is part of the New York University - Hall of Fame for Great Americans series. The Bald Eagle is part of a group of elements - along with a ship and anchor - meant to represent Cooper's sea epics and their regular subject - the United States Navy. These coins have got to be one of the most unusual "bird" coins. They are from the Australian Opal Series, Silver $1 pieces made by the Perth Mint. They contain 1 tr. oz. of 0.999 fine silver. I have included the 2014 Masked Owl and the 2015 Ghost Bat coins. The pictures of the birds are made of small pieces of opal with different colors. I think they are truly remarkable.
