I received the fancy Canadian packaging once. I threw it away. So much clutter.

That is me, I am going off of the RedBook, which says that you need OGP to get the complete price for the coin.

APMEX sells the Canadian gold packaging for $9.95 each, complete with the certificate of authenticity. They strip the bullion coins out and sell them in their capsules.

For Americans, I understand that 26 states have enacted laws to make gold and silver coins legal tender. I also have read that several states limit the applicability of the statute to precious metals coins minted by US mints. This may expand the interest in and demand for gold and silver commemorative coins.

My experience with modern commems, is that they come to me, as a "part of the whole" for collections I'm buying. I generally pay around 75% of the total value for everything ... I do end up with stuff I don't want as well. Commems are cool ... love the history NOT the great value. - Best, Tiny
