MS63 I think, looks dipped as so many coins like this were in the 80's & 90's probably grades straight, the scratch by the head is keeping me from going higher.

thanks Adam for your insight on the field mark. that was my first thought but wasnt sure. when there are no other issues on the coin in the way of marks this is usually the actual cause

Did the scratch details this coin?

I think I'm in agreement with the grade, I agree the coin has been dipped but it's still got plenty of luster. As others have pointed out, the only major distraction I can find is the scratch behind the head. I will admit that it is quite distracting.

All considered, this particular coin is very very tough to find in 65 and above. I'd consider this to be a lower-mid range example of the grade, but a good pick if you desire a fully white coin with strong luster. On the other hand, a coin with more original surfaces and color would hide most distracting flaws pretty well on an arrows + rays quarter, which already has busy devices that lend themselves to that end.

Very nice. The dipping was done right. It's not over-dipped and the remaining luster is strong. I agree with the Gem grade.

Stunning coin. Love the arrows and rays. 65 was my guess too before I saw the slab posted and honestly the full slab picture makes it look even better. Congrats on a superb acquisition!
