Is that a burl?

Negative - it's a section of walnut that I turned in the style of a 'birds mouth bowl'. This style of turning leaves the pith (center of the tree) in the bowl as can be seen in the darker heartwood section.

The lighter colored wood is the walnut sapwood that occurs near the edge of the tree, hence I left the 'live edge' bark attached at what becomes the top of the bowl.

The section was turned green (that is freshly felled with the wood wet) and slowly dried in my shop. That drying process resulted in numerous cracks in the wood which I eventually filled with turquoise (powder mixed with epoxy) that appear as the pale blue lines that were the cracks.

It's a rather large piece - as you can see in comparison to that pencil in the photo.

The pencil and nickels are of standard size - such as to offer you a visual clue to aid your guessing.

3766 Nickels in that busted hacky sack

I know I'm outta the top three but I appreciated the chance to win one of those great prizes.
So cool. I would however be thrilled for a baby clock.
Display looks like it could be a scene in a Pink Floyd "Time" video.

You - and all players except koigirl808 - remain eligible for the random drawing for 2 of the little clocks. Refer back to Page 8 for the rules associated with those prizes.

One of the requirements is that you must enter a guess in Round 5 - which 10 of you have already done.

More guesses on the way?

Well - I did of course. Anyone who would like to audit the results is free to come on by and start counting again.

A glance at the current leaderboard shows 1 player at the top, 4 players bunched right behind and another 19 who could make the podium by pulling out a Round 5 win.

So - 24 potential podium finishers depending on the results of this round. Makes it kind of exciting to see how we get across the finish line.

Seems like this is a good time to remind all the players of the tiebreaker rules as published on Page 1. Far disclosure - I "borrowed" these from GTP with jbuck concurrence:

Tiebreaker Rules:

•These tiebreaker rules apply to each final contest podium position; i.e., there will only be 3 prizes awarded.
•If two (or more) players are tied for any podium position after the five rounds, the first tiebreaker will be the number of winning (20 point) rounds
•If two (or more) of the tied players have the same number of winning rounds, then the second tiebreaker will be the number of runner-up (10 point) rounds.
•If two (or more) of the tied players have the same number of winning and runner-up rounds, then the final tiebreaker will be the accuracy of guesses (starting with Winning guesses). Accuracy will be defined as the actual numerical difference and not the percentage difference.

After the three podium winners select a prize from the main event prizes, then the remaining eligible players will all enter the random drawing for an Appreciation Prize - one of the little clocks pictured on Page 8.

Now is the time to ask any questions on the process for awarding of prizes.
