I have been doing a lot of research and there is so much to learn! This penny is two different colors. There is a line extending from the E in WE all the way down to the bottom of the coin, with the left side appearing darker. There is also a band of discoloration extending almost to his tie. There is also a crack under the date. My photos are not that great but the best I could do. Is this considered an improper alloy mix or a lamination error? I truly appreciate your expertise and thank you all in advance!

Looks like glue or something similar that hardened on the surface - flaked off. Better photos would help - 800X600 ideal.

Greetings, this 1982 Large Date look like it has environmental staining, the photos are not good enough to discern if the lines are cracks or a Lam issue, but you can first dip the coin in 100% Acetone to see if some of the coloring clears up.

Agree--staining, perhaps caused by exposure to a liquid, since dried. A long soak in 100% acetone might reduce or eliminate the 'crud'.

Agreed with above comments. A long soak in 100% pure Acetone might get rid of it.
