If anybody happens to have a 1977 $50 Star Note in their collection (Serial # B11692583*) it was used By Gerald McRaney (as Rick Simon) in Season 2 Episode 16 of Simon & Simon. Rick was trying to bribe a hotel desk clerk.

The 1954 British film "Fire Over Africa" is about glamorous woman secret agent Joanna Dane (Maureen O'Hara) who is assigned to identify the head of a drug smuggling group in the North African city of Tangier, which was at the time an international zone administered by Great Britain, France, and Spain.

Joanna uses her physical charms and skills to get a job at a smuggler's hangout where she can coax information out of men who find her attractive.

At one point she contacts an Arab agent working as a waiter and hands him a coin with a message taped to it. The coin is a Spanish 5 peseta coin dated 1949 and minted under the Franco regime.

Joanna gives the agent a coin which has a piece of paper or tape on it.

The message reads "Farrell Murdered".

There is enough of the coin showing to identify it as a Spanish five peseta coin dated 1949.

Spain 5 Pesetas 1949
Nickel, 32.0 mm, 15.0 gm
The coin has an official date of 1949 but has a smaller actual minting date of 1951 hidden in stars on the reverse.

Jbuck,

I'm sure you have seen it, but the cash room scene from the movie "Casino" showed a shelf stacked with Ike dollar rolls.

It has been a while since I watched that movie, probably well before my CCF days.

But here it is...

...Joe Pesci rocked his role in Casino ... He always delivers great performances ...

...another movie, with co-star Pesci, featured a scene where the 'bad guy" car crashes & flips, the trunk is opened, & out spill a huge pile of gold Krugerrands ...

Ahh, the good old days when slot machines spewed out coins. Back in the 70's I was taking a trip to Vegas, my Dad suggested to ask the change lady what machine to play, So I bought $100 in coins and dropped 80 until it hit for $1200. Her name was Sun.
