The film "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny": Near the end of the film when Indiana Jones and Helena Shaw find the grave of Archimedes, they uncover the stone casket and view the remains. The skull has two coins placed on the eyes which is an ancient Greek custom. The coins appear to be large coins, corroded and covered with dust, which makes them hard to identify. They are probably copies of ancient Greek coins.

I do not think I ever noticed the coins. Seems you have... a good eye. Yeah, I said it.

A MasterMinds trivia question: If you have the two smallest value US coins without ridges on the edges, how much money do you have? The answer the show claimed is correct was neither mine nor that of Ken Jennings.

Quote:A MasterMinds trivia question: If you have the two smallest value US coins without ridges on the edges, how much money do you have? Well, the obvious answer is 1 cent. The smallest value US coin without ridges is the Half Cent. 2 x (1/2) = 2/2 = 1. But I take it that's not the answer MasterMinds gave?

My thoughts exactly, jpsned. Unless Nick was assuming two different denominations.

IMO it was a poorly worded question, and therefore ambiguous. I thought 1.5 cents. MasterMinds was looking for 6 cents because apprently we were supposed to know they were thinking currently made coins of two different denominations. The normally reliable Ken Jennings blew it when he answered 15 cents.

Yes, very poorly worded. Obviously, MasterMinds does not have any numismatists on its staff!
Odd that Ken, all-seer and all-knower, was thinking of a nickel and a dime. I think even a little kid could tell you that a penny has smooth edges and a dime's edge is reeded.

Las Vegas - Season 4 Episode 6 1943 Copper Cent A Buddhist monk has a string of good luck at the roulette table, raking in tens of thousands of dollars. Sam approaches him to extend the resort's hospitality, but he refuses. Instead, he gives her a penny and walks away. Sam watches as the monk hits the $20,000 jackpot on a slot machine. In the surveillance booth, Mitch tells Mike the secret of the monk's success: he prays. They discover that the monk's name is Tsuldi Tendar. Mike's heard of the guy: every seven years he comes to Vegas to spread the teachings of Buddha and to clean out one casino. He's never been caught cheating and Mike wants to be the one to catch him in the act. The monk gets under Sam's skin by hinting to her that she's an unhappy person who suffers a great deal. Mike has had enough and has his own talk with the monk. He tells him that he's no longer welcome at the casino and the monk tells Mike that, "your heart is noble. You should follow it more often." However, Sam tells Mike to let the monk stay because she refuses to let him walk out with over a million dollars in casino money. Sam makes a proposition to the monk: wager his entire two million dollars on a single bet or get out. Mike tries to stop this since that kind of bet on a single number on roulette can break the entire casino. The monk places a bet on number eight. As it spins, he whispers to Sam, "14," and that's the number that comes in. For good karma, Sam gives him back the penny, which turns out to be a rare coin worth $80,000. --- the synopsis does not mention the coin but Mike says it is a 1943 copper cent --- https://www.aceshowbiz.com/tv/episo...egas_s4_e06/
