Apologies if I have posted the thread at the wrong section.

Every now and then we come across washed notes and we may accidentally purchase them especially if the notes are fully sealed up in the wrappings.

I have various banknotes collected during my early days into this hobby years ago (mostly are sealed up) so recently I took them out and cut open the seals. I realized from this pile of notes, most of them are washed and some have the smell of bleach. I was told that these notes will disintegrate as time passes so for now I am unsure what to do with them. Perhaps re-seal them back and leave them as it is or sell them away (which kinda feel inappropriate also for other collectors) ?

If you were me, what will you do if you eventually found out those notes you bought are washed in water/soap or even worse, with bleach or some other chemicals ?

If the notes were mine:

1) I'd separate any note that was suspicious

2) I would want to sell them, as a lot/group, but with full disclosure (label them as possibly washed/processed)

I know that might mean "taking a loss" on the 'lot' but it would be better than passing them off as higher grade notes than they are (I feel). I'm a big believer that "what goes around, comes around" & its important to keep the hobby a positive place rather than filled with doubt/deceit.
