1989 D Mintmark With Extra Portion

Was casually looking through a penny box when this happened to catch my eye. Never seen anything quite like it and can't find any info regarding anything like this. Almost seems like it could be damage but there's also random seemingly extra raised spots and dots in a few other places. Any info would help.

The Photo Quality got killed alittle in the post, but wouldn't those be more like divots. These are all raised like extra material as well as the bit below the mintmark.

This happens on copper plated zinc cents. If the plating gets split or the zinc core gets exposed, the air will just eat away at it, causing what you see here. Eventually, it will completely rot away and form a hole through the coin.

I agree with zinc rot. Also, please no photos of your scopes screen, use a memory card or a totally different way of taking/posting pics...thanks.
