It looks good based on what I have gleaned from the internet, but I don't like Lincoln's lip ring.

Lip ring huh? funny, it looks like a circulation hit a very long time ago.
What does the reverse in that area look like?

Yes, a reverse photo would be very appropriate.

And Dearborn, looking closely at it, it does appear to be a ding rather than a protrusion.

And thanks for the welcome!

Another key coin that simply should be sent on in to ANACS for grading.

IMHO, that ding might result in a details grade. Strong 40 if it goes straight.

I'll say VF-35, unfortunate lip hit.

This IMO is a VF35 or so semi key date coin that would best be preserved in an album or 2x2.

I respectfully disagree as this 1931-S issue was known as a low mintage coin upon release and a large percentage were saved in MS.

There are no questions on authenticity or grade range - so IMO this coin does not need expensive TPG evaluation.

Looks good to me, ugly hit there but it's not that bad and it's a key date.

Unusual coin, you don't normally see 31 S's that grade that low.
