I noticed the rim seems to have separated during the minting process below the "E" of "CENT". What is the name of this type of error? Thank you guys!

This is post-mint damage. It did not occur during the minting of this cent.

Are you sure? Seems odd how its solid/not loose as I would expect. Plus wouldnt it have most likely broken off if that was the case?

At some point after leaving the mint, something bashed into the rim and shoved part of it up. Trust me, this is not a mint error. Others will weigh in with the same opinion shortly.

Yes, post-strike damage. Rim received a horizontal/lateral hit and a portion was 'shoved' inward. Copper is a relatively soft metal and can be moved/bent/folded when hit--especially laterally.

Sheared and displaced metal from the rim. Something hit the rim after it was minted. Copper is a fairly soft metal and can be bent without breaking quite easily. It's only attached to the coin at the rim and isn't attached to the field. You may be able to check this with a thread by working it under the pointed end.

Ok I appreciate the info. I never would have thought this was PMD. Now I know! Thanks!
