Quote: I don't have a forum name Vermontensium, I confess. Hope that you like the bogus Flying Eagle cent - it was out of place in my collection. The round was just for kicks.

Well, this dosen't happen often to me. I'm rarely surprised about anything, as I am always keeping my head on a swivel and my eyes on the horizon. BUT Holy crap!! I just got floored by my Santa Gift. it just arrived!! I'll need time to compile photos of it to post here. I can say that my Santa did serve in the Military in either the Navy or Marines (I'll explain later) Thanks, you made my day - heck whole year.

OK a quick update on my gift - I'll get better images soon (been a bit busy with all this holiday stuff lately) But it came with a nice note and a story about the coins. here are the quick images I took to get them posted here. I'll take individual images in a bit. Now I really like the Philippines commem - as I was in Hawaii when Imelda Marcos arrived when they got ousted from thei country. (boy I think she had a separate plane just to ship her shoes. (some of you may get the reference) Thank you very much for this gift, I'll be adding some of them to my 1962 birth year collection and the other to a general world coin collection I have going as well.

I must've been really really good this year because Santa sent me something fun. I'm having difficulty uploading pictures from my phone, but I received a 1972 Canada mint set, four other nice modern Canadian coins, and a 2004 "Camel Toe" counterfeit Canadian twoonie. I think the counterfeit is really cool. It's in great shape and all the markers you look for are nice and clear. (I have been looking for an inexpensive Henning nickel for years, and this is the same idea - a low value coin that nobody would look at twice slipping unnoticed through society until suddenly someone really looks at them) I hadn't heard about these counterfeits before so it has lead to a fun time learning about them. As soon as I get back to my home state, I will look at my other coins to see if my other twoonies are real. The modern coins include two 2022 twoonies, and one might be a "black-ringed twoonie" commemorating the death of Queen Elizabeth. They apparently are really sought after for their historical significance, and coins of historical relevance are very neat. This is fun! Thanks Santa and thanks Rgoodie for hosting the exchange.

I said I was going to wait until Christmas to open mine... but the fam is in bed, stockings have been stuffed, cookies and carrots have been staged by the fireplace, tree is (figuratively) ablaze, and there's a full egg nog sitting in front of me. When I think about it, it's the perfect time put on melancholy Christmas songs (oh yes there are so many of them) and indulge in a hobby that is deeply personal to me. So "Song for Winter's Night" is playing (RIP, Gordon) and lying before me from my Secret Santa package is the following: Canadian Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games Coin Collection CU Antarctica Dollar THANK YOU SANTA! I love them both! My son is SO into penguins and can't wait to show the dollar to him tomorrow. Sorry, no pics tonight, will share some tomorrow when I have some natural light in the office. Merry Christmas to all and thanks rggoodie/Santa for the annual fun!

A couple of quick photos: Vancouver 2010 Olympic Set: Antarctica Dollar: Many thanks again, Santa! edit: I have no idea where that dark hair came from in the picture of the Antarctica dollar. My wife, son and I are all blonde. And I'm wearing a hat. It's not in or on the holder. Please disregard...
