The "orange color" (it looks more pink than orange to me) is very typical of an acid-cleaned bronze/copper coin. Though ammonia can make copper coins look orange, too.
I suspect this is an environmentally damaged coin, it had some corrosion on it which someone used acid to remove before they spent/banked it.
I'm certainly not seeing anything that would qualify as a "mint error".
