Hello everyone,

I know this isn't a coin but hopefully someone can help with this one...

Patina suggests later than roman and the figure herself looks later but any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated...

There were a lot of box decorations for coffins. Often with a God on them. I don't have a reference for a statue like this, but judging by the size it seems in the same style. There was a man, Donald Jackson, who had web pages for roman locks, keys, rings etc. I made a pdf of the chest lock page years ago before it was taken off line and link it below from a share from my drive. Scroll down until you see what looks like your statue, but remember they are hasps for a coffin lock. I think you will see the similarity. They start on page 59 of the document.

Thanks @louisville... My bronze has a lot in common with some of those. It also has some evidence of having been buried, but I'm not seeing 1500+ years of patina on this one...right?

When I get settled tonight I can post some more photos...

Thanks again

I thought the patina looks okay. But perhaps it's a Grand Tour piece? If it were mine, I'd post it at the Ancient Artifacts forum (https://groups.io/g/AncientArtifacts), which is more specialized for this type of thing.

@Kamn, I thought so at first, but I see A LOT (!!!!) of grand tour items and they are usually drenched in fake patina and rarely incomplete; this item does have something that appears missing from the top. It also has some authentic use wear. Still searching of course and always appreciative of replies.

The link to the forum above didn't work.
