Best And Clearest Description Of Banknote Grades?

PastExpiry Valued Member Canada 97 Posts	Posted 11/06/2023 3:42 pm Hi, I am trying to estimate the grade of some banknotes I have and I find the descriptions at PMG too subjective, especially at grades under 40. Has anyone run into a website or even (gasp) an app that has clearer descriptions or at least better points out the main differences between the grades of 40,35,30,25, and 20 ? Sometimes I still struggle, especially with scans (instead of pictures). Most sellers scan & very few take photos highlighting a note's flaws with side lighting. That's why I created this video 4 years ago (which some have found helpful). I used to go over hundreds (maybe thousands) of notes & try to peg the grade (simply practice) based on 1) number of creases/folds & the paper integrity. One other trick (hack/short cut) I have used is this: On ebay, if the seller states the note is in EF then its probably VF; VF then its probably Fine, etc. I have always taken the note down a grade (or 2 on social media) & usually feel the grade is then closer to what the note is. https://sites.google.com/view/notap...ng-banknotes Edited by walk2dwater 11/11/2023 09:27 am Report this Post to the Staff
