True that Hondo - at least it wasn't a 1921. 1922 so variety check in order after reclamation.

Maybe try a plastic shovel? Although even that would scratch the toning on a coin.

I typically dig a wide plug to avoid this exact scenario. Did it once before many years ago and ever since, I proceed cautiously - these were just spread out. I'm afraid plastic would break too easily.
