I don't have any pics, but I have seen an alarming amount of fake Peace dollars in Rome.

They are obvious in hand but evidently fool enough people that they keep appearing in markets.

If you squint they look like weak strikes.

I've also heard recently that fake late bronze roman coins are coming out of Bulgaria... These are $5-10 coins... 1922 circulated Peace dollars - $20-22? Common date Buffalo nickel $1?

I also have a counterfeit '22. Handed over to me in a pile of coins from the parents. Mother seemed to recall purchasing in the 80's.

Picked up this fake 1923 Peace dollar at a flea market twenty years ago, so they've been doing it a while. Much better ones are out now. 22.25 g, strongly magnetic.

Hondo Boguss, thank you for sharing that. So I'm assuming that since it's magnetic, that's a dead giveaway of it being fake?

Errers, while there are coins designed to be attracted to magnets, I don't think that Peace dollars are in that group.

I remember seeing similar Peace dollars along with fake French and Spanish crown-size silver coins in markets when I was living in Spain in 1982.
