Quote: Euro does not make sense in Europe The Euro is only as strong as its weakest member. However you spin it, the Euro is still cracking because of non-unity. I will never want to see a world currency. On the world market, either use dollars or don't use anything at all.

Quote: we will lead as a nation with much stronger leadership of innovation, creativity and yes... prosperity I think you may have been listening to a little too much US government propaganda. Always a dangerous thing. You guys (much like us) are in a pickle!

I work on a relative basis - show me a better system than the US I will buy into it. Haven't seen any.

A better place to live free, fulfil yourself, and have a fair shot at success. I hope it remains so with less government intervention.

Quote: The Billionaire George Soros has made some comments relating to this recently as well...... My opinion of Soros is decidedly not family-friendly so I will keep it to myself All I will say is that he has been doing alot of bragging lately on how many billions his hedge fund is making by betting on an economic collapse, he specifically talks up the worst aspects, makes a concerted attempt to drive negative economic indicators, and his overt funding of bottomfeeders like MediaMatters and MoveOn.org. That guy is bad mojo for everyone regardless of political affiliation, nothing like some jerk rooting for everyone to lose but himself...

well I would hate a world currency because it would destroy the new ofac collectors. I like feudalism best numismatically because it produces the most variation of coinage. Look at german coinage before it unified, you litterally had hundreds of little countries each with its own currency, thats hundreds of different coins made each year! How boring would it be if there was only one set of coins produced every year. -XoG

The EU's coins make sense solely due to the fact of the close proximity of all of the participating nations the same way dozens of African nations share the same currency now. In 10-15 years I could fathom a possible Amero Dollar but seriously doubt it. I too agree that we will become a cashless society far before anything like this will ever happen. You modern collectors are just gonna have to suck it up and collect older coins like the rest of us now

Quote: Euro does not make sense in Europe Personally, the Euro would only make sense if they could make more attractive coins! Ever seen those Belgian Euro coins?--they're simply sad (sorry but it's true)--while others are OK. Funny how all most my friends overseas live in non-Euro countries...I know how to pick'em I guess A little levity for such topics, take as you will.

Before, I didn't even know who Soros was, but after his lucky hand, people think he's some kind of market-predicting-altering-forming-making saint.

Quote: A better place to live free, fulfil yourself, and have a fair shot at success. Perhaps you could show me a list where the US coumes top to do with a better life? GDP per capita? Nope, Quality of life? Nope, Life expectancy? Nope, Infant mortality rate? Nope, Happiness Index? Nope, Prosperity? Nope, Satisfaction with life? Nope..... The only one I could find was death by gun crime. Like I say, whatever you do don't listen to your own countries propaganda. I know I don't listen to mine. Nothing but BS. Also having lived in the States for nine years I would say that your government is a lot more restrictive on individual freedoms than others. And working five years somewhere before you get more than a week off a year for vacation is not a good thing.

Quote: GO said: I too agree that we will become a cashless society far before anything like this will ever happen. Agreed. While coins and similar physical objects remain in everyday use, they will remain as symbols of autonomy and independence. But once physical money disappears as a practical medium of exchange and becomes entirely electronic (and, assuming we aren't heading for a New Dark Age, this is inevitable), a one-world currency will be much easier to implement. After all, why should you, me or anybody else care whether those electrons are called dollars, or credits, or googleplexes, or anything else?
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

If that's the case, then they better start getting better at "I.D. Theft"......it's already such a HUGE problem now. Just think if there was no "actual money" and it was all electronic as hypothisized....... the way this frequently occurring crime is now....at that future point....... it would/will change to 40% of us being "victims" then !Penalties and punishments for those caught doing this crime are obviously not strict enough.......but I don't even think that matters.....because it still wouldn't stop it or "stem the tide" I bet ! I kinda think we're TOO MUCH into the "electronic age" as it is now !......or at least we haven't evolved yet to make it more secure and feasible and reliable so that nobody can rip off my " googleplexes" and steal my identity...
