Quote: 1. Spend more time enjoying and looking at my collection, rather than focusing exclusively on filling holes. Use this time to narrow my collecting focus and figure out what items I'd like to sell, trade, or give away. I've definitely spent more time with my collection this quarter, but mostly with cataloging my new purchases and transitioning from 2x2s to Dansco albums. My collection has expanded rapidly, and I need to scale back some and refocus. But...that's probably a 2025 goal. Quote:2. Fill one hole in each of my Barber dime, Standing Liberty quarter, and Washington quarter sets.3. Fill one hole in my Mint Sets.4. Buy or trade for 2-5 modern US coins on my Want List.5. Complete another year in my First Spouse bronze medal series set. Quote: 6. Continue updating my storage options and photo inventory. Keep existing inventory up to date with new purchases. This goal is in progress. I've been catching up with my inventory updates. I still have a little ways to go, but definitely doable in the final quarter. The transition to Dansco albums is slow, but once I finish adding my new purchases, I can start going through my 2x2s and mint sets. Quote: 7. Encourage family members to become numismatists. I found several good numismatic Christmas gifts for the family, and I'm planning another YN program for my community next year.

Well, for me, I completed one of the harder sets of USA coins earlier than I thought, the large cents from 1816-1857, with the last date I just bought a few days ago the 1830 medium letters. It was not easy to locate the key dates 1821, 1823, and 1857, with the last date was just played on GTP. Another goal I am currently working on is my OFEC (1900-2000) and I just picked up two more countries I needed to now have 251 of 281 for my set to be considered complete.

Not many updates. From July 1 till September 30, I haven't done any of the below. Quote: 1) Add the missing coins to my slabbed 7070. 3) Add the missing notes to my US currency type set. 4) Add any missing coins to my coins from Portugal Type Set. 5) Add any missing notes to my currency from Portugal Type set.
I did add a few IHC. Quote: 2) Add the missing coins to my slabbed Indian Head cent Quote: 6) Upgrade any coins that I can from my albums Which let me upgrade a few coins in the IHC album.

My collecting interest is - Mexican numismatic medals. So this year, I created a Facebook page of that name to foster interest in them and to provide a place to buy and sell them that is based in the United States.

Quote: Great updates! Thanks jBuck, What I'm learning is that I buy less every year but the cost of each item gets higher and higher.

Quote: @jbuck: in case you had not seen this: Thank you for sharing. I have never tried an auction. I might have to give it a shot, but nine days leave a lot of time get out of reach.

Quote: For now my plan for [2024] is the same as [my plan for 2023 and] my last plan for 2022: find and visit a coin store (and/or a coin fair), and hopefully buy some coins from there. Has yet to happen (though I did find a few inexpensive coins at a local market), but there's a lot of the year still left. Still nothing here, nearly 11 months in; these days the ongoing Hezbollah activity is making attempts to visit other cities quite unsafe even in non-northern directions. There are some possible leads for the upcoming week, though (when I'm expecting to maybe visit Haifa early enough in the morning to possibly check out a coin store I've found on maps), and I can't yet rule out a brief return back to Moscow at the end of December (...though my current plans don't involve any coin store visits in there until, at least, the first few days of January). Quote: Unexpected additional goal: actually enter all the random foreign coins I got from relatives into my Numista collection. I was going to do that in January but somehow never actually got around to any actual entering after the first... maybe five or six coins. There's about 200 coins in the queue by now. ...actually falling behind here; I got another few album pages of coins from relatives (and a few loose coins from my brother, who brought a bunch of unspent change from Estonia - sadly not Brazil, where he didn't end up with any), so I have about 300ish coins left to enter now (and at least another hundred in my circulation date set attempt). However, this is now much lower priority anyway because Numista's new redesign made the website much lower priority for me in general.

As mentioned on my post from 3/29/24, I have NOT purchased any Canadian coins, even though I've been tempted several times. The only item I'm still waiting for this year is the reverse proof AI dollars set from the US Mint. I UNsubscribed the various Peace dollars earlier this year, so I saved quite a few bucks there. I did recently re-buy the 2023 P-D-S quarters. I had bought them by the roll last year from the Mint ($300.00), but I didn't feel like breaking the rolls open to get the ONE coin of each to put into by folders. Hopefully I'll be able to get my costs back for the rolls sometime in the future.
