I have Googled this several times with no success. Is there something overt or less obvious on a PCGS slab that lets you know it is imaged in TrueView? An icon, a numerical prefix, something of that nature?

The gold shield to the left is inherent to service levels with TrueViews I think.

Here is what I found. Trueview and gold shield are two different things:https://www.pcgs.com/services

To the best of my knowledge, it's not noted anywhere on the slab itself. You have to look up the cert number on PCGS's website to check.

Should have the gold shield on the left front of the slab

There should be a gold shield on the label and a shield embossed on the lower left of slab.

Nope

Trueview and Gold Shield are separate services, but Gold Shield includes a free Trueview.

So - absent errors which do occur - a Gold Shield should have a Trueview, but any other coin could also have one if the submitter paid for it.

Wow, that is lame. Given that so few slabs have TrueView, it is terribly tedious to browse ebay and enter every single cert number. Also makes it much harder to buy slabbed coins, because people take such terrible pictures. After seeing all the stained, discolored, and otherwise undesirable coins with MS66-68 grades, I would never "buy the slab".

Seems like a real missed opportunity by PCGS marketing. Also by the slab owners themselves. If a coin had TrueView, a smart seller would put that right in the listing.

I believe both of these are accurate statements. All my PCGS Ikes with a Gold Shield have a Trueview image, but I also have a few with images that are absent the shield so I have to assume the submitter paid for it separately.

I always look up the certificate numbers. Even without a Trueview image, I like to make sure the slab has what it says it has.
