I reached out to David Fanning who runs K&F. I work for him part time also. He clarified that all shipments are insured appropriately and that they will be refunded if lost international or domestic. 1/3rd of our sales are to international buyers, many of whom are very wealthy, buying books worth tens of thousands of dollars. They are all very confident in either getting the books or getting their money back if if the package is lost.
David said the purpose of that language was more to say that once it is out of the hands of the US Postal Service that there isn't much he can do.
That being said he also admitted the terms language sounds harsher than it necessarily needs to be. But rest assured that if you win any buy or bid lots, K&F won't leave you hanging out to dry if a package gets lost.
