I added a couple of new coins recently, with different designs for the cockerel, so it got me wondering how many different designs are there on the French or French Territories coins. Do you have a favourite design? Let's see what you have. These are the 2 I added recently. Both 10 francs from 1986.   |

Great idea triggersmob, and really nice contributions from you and Hondo Boguss! My oldest French cockerel, and I believe the first one to appear on French coinage (although this one is minted in Soho  ), is this 2 sols from 1792, in the midst of the French revolution:  Here is another one, on a 6 livres from 1793:  Napoleon thought the cockerel was too feeble an animal to represent the dynamic and expansive French Empire, so he replaced it with an eagle instead. But the stubborn cockerel returned when Napoleon was gone. Here it is on an 1848 20 francs coin:  |
