Apparently ebay has a new international shipping arrangement where you just send items to a U.S. hub, and then ebay handles everything from there. My account was automatically enrolled (not sure how I feel about that). Does anyone have more information or thoughts about the new program? I am considering opting out manually until I see some more details on how it all works, and hear some feedback from other sellers.

I haven't had any issues with it personally. And as a seller of only non-US coins, I appreciate it.

Beem, let me ask this: can you still ship the coins with their cheap ebay shipping labels that include tracking?

My personal view is that it adds a huge cost to British buyers because in addition to the costly international ebay shipping fee, it's always examined by British Customs. Customs charges 20% tax on imports over £39 and duty on imports over £135 and Royal Mail charges an extra £8. Customs often includes the ebay shipping fee when deciding the cost of the import. So, it has to be amazingly cheap when buyers take all this into account. I, like many UK buyers, never bid on anything where the seller is using the international ebay shipping program. That's fine if you don't want to sell to the UK.

Brandmeister, Yes, it's just like shipping to a US customer, it's just that you're shipping it to ebay. They make it easy for the seller. It's just a bit costly for the buyer.

Thanks for the information. I do like the ebay shipping option for coins under $20 and 3oz, particularly because it has the integrated tracking. I guess maybe I could re-enable the feature, but I don't know that international buyers would be particularly interested in buying circulated US nickels.

Who gets the negative feedback if ebay screws up the international shipping?

Well, if you use ebay shipping to send coins to their distribution center, then I guess it's verified to be their fault. I thought I read some stuff in their marketing pitch that sellers would be insulated from negative feedback that resulted after the handoff.

I use it, generally works. Several problems: 1- ebay won't combine the shipping of multiple items. 2- can't really sell inexpensive items to foreign buyers- too costly for buyers. As a result of 1 and 2, international buyers frequently ask to cancel. 3- slow 4- just got a buyer file a non-receipt of item shipped through the program- not sure what will happen, will update when I find out.
