I received these as a lot.the coins are 1961 from what I've looked up and the 10000 afghanis note is so longer made. Just wondering about generals. I don't know almost anything about paper money. These obviously have some damage. Keep it all together and throw it in my safe for 50 yrs? It's garbage? Right price to the right person? What's the thoughts on this

Kerry, your coins may be from 1961 but the dates are on the other side. Top left: 1 Afghani; TR: 50 Pul; LL: 5 Afghani; LR: 2 Afghanis. The 5 Afghani is rotated 180 degrees, while the others are rotated 90 degrees CCW.
Here is chart showing numbers in dates on Islamic coins: Afghan-Coins-And-Bills
The banknotes are of fairly recent vintage and in really rough shape. You can look them up on Numista, but they have little value.

Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

+1

You could try to offer the banknotes as a lot on ebay (or elsewhere). Locking them up in a safe won't improve their condition/resale. In general, only the best notes (rarity or condition wise) hold any collector value.
